It was some 3 months ago when the KAPS brand, for whom Toube Bas had designed the Sahasrara Chakra tee, asked us to design a t-shirt for people who are so, so passionate about Yoga. Not just that: they were absolutely clear that they wanted to kick it off with a portrayal of the divine, and incredibly serene, Surya Namaskara!

This t-shirt is made on black melange (or 'charcoal' color) , and is a 'slim tee'. That is, it hugs the sinews, the torso is shorter (it reaches till the mouth of the jeans pocket), and so are the sleeves. A causal, cool, and carefree piece of fashion!

Warli Tribal Art
We have been itching to do a 'raw', 'earthen', Indian work on our t-shirts for some time ... and the very essence of the Surya Namaskara T-shirt allowed us to do just that! These innovations allow us to be passionate about this designing - and we think it shows very well in the almost-maroon art on this t-shirt!

The Front
This unique Toube Bas Surya Namaskara T-shirt depicts the twelve poses of Surya Namaskara in the popular, tribal art form ... known as, "Warli Paintings"! The Warli paintings, tradtionally, are simple, plain, and mostly depict human forms with little noise around them. Isn't that just perfect to show a human meditating fully in various postures?! You bet!!

You may have noticed that the poses have been shown in order of their execution - we had to respect that authenticity. Moreover, amongst all the poses, we have highlighted the first pose of the Surya Namaskara ... that spreads across the chest.

The Back
We used the devanagari font of Hindu scriptures to 'pronounce' the 12 various mantras that are recited during the entire cycle of Surya Namaskara - one for each pose. While it looks easy, putting them down was a major challenge in itself. We'll tell you why ...

We couldn't have crowded the back and make this t-shirt look messy, and a turn-off. Hence, a darker shade of maroon was used for the mantras, while the mantra complimenting the first pose, "Om Mitraaya Namah", was highlighted in a soothing pink.
